Things are to be used and people are to be loved

Things are to be used and people are to be loved, But the problem in today’s world is that, People are used and things are loved…

During the day, be careful to keep this thought in mind: Things are to be used, but People are to be loved… Be yourself… This is the only day we HAVE. Have a nice day.

Watch your thoughts; they become words.
Watch your words; they become actions.
Watch your actions; they become habits.
Watch your habits they become character;
Watch your character; it becomes your destiny.

Stay FAITHFUL and Be GRATEFUL

Feed Tester : Behind the Scenes

I am learning how syndication works, and how it drives traffic to one's blog.  The idea behind being to concentrate on the subject that I really and truly bored everyone who knows me about - the zimcommunity blog.  All this blogging and practising was for a purpose and even though I am still struggling, doing two blogs and learning the curves means zimcommunity will be much more fun to do.  I'm not sure if I will meet the deadline of January 1 2012 that I set to start on this but here goes the insider's view of a feed tester:-

When Fourthworld Meets Firstworld

We are celebrating the arrival of Kijana, the newest member of our family  in Australia on the 18th of November, 2011.  To Kevin and Sandy, congratulations!  Kijana is Swahili, so is Kirimi and Mwiti.  We now have three Swahili names in the family, all boys, on two different continents.  Kevin is a fantastic father, you can all see.  Now, if this was in this, our fourthworld, Sandy would be bathing that baby, with another on her back and another pregnancy to boot!

I do not support any football team but I support this coach .....

He is focused.
He has a crazy temper.
He is not afraid to fight for his team.
He can shop.
He wins trophies.
Jose Mourinho!!!

What has this got to do with this, my fourthworld .....absolutely nothing.  Its too tiring to keep learning from everyone.  The Mourinhos, you simply admire.

Form is temporary

But class is forever.  I am reliably informed that this is a very well known statement in the footballing world. Take Samuel Eto for example, who would have thought that this gentleman from the fourthworld would one day end up being the highest paid footballer?  US$29 million dollars per year.  For kicking a ball.

Weeds

I looked at the field and vowed that I would do something about it.  Just plain grit and determination.  So I took that same short hoe (fourthworld technology) and bent double to work. Half an hour later, I stopped looking up once every few minutes and started planning in my mind.  Next half hour saw me come up with a clear plan of what had to be done and how.  Five gruelling hours later, I surveyed the transformed former weed chocked patch of land, turned into something resembling a garden.  The struggling shoots, now clearly visible, looked pretty.  The newly formed calluses became badges of honour.  People, please believe me when I say that I am not cut out to be a farmer.  Notwithstanding this loud ascertion, it is with pride that I pass through and check on the roughly half acre patch which all this fuss is about.  To me, it epitomises re-birth.  I understand the seeds' struggle with the weeds.  I also understand the weeds' struggle with the seeds.  For each plays a role in shaping the other's growth.  Ultimately, for me to harvest, I must keep the weeds in check.... and patiently tend the garden till harvest time.

Your Song

"Its a little bit funny, this feeling inside."  Sir Elton John had no idea where, when or how his song was going to be played, when he initially sang his song.  Such is the perseverance and winning spirit of people who make it in this life.  Strutting through empty streets yesterday evening, it occured to me that in this, my particular part of the world, few people are serious about making  generational money, like the millionaires in the rest of the industrialised world.   Why I say so?  Sometimes its not about working smart or hard, but just doing your thing when everyone else gives excuses, like  consistency in delivering, that small dollar yielding formula repeated over and over again till you see a pattern, progression. In my neck of the woods, consistency is boring, repetition tedious and a return of cents on an investment not good enough.  So one project is abandoned for another, same as one job for another, till one is unemployable and then, you cannot account for your life, or your time.  Left - an empty bitter cask of a human being.

Your song is the sum total of everything that you do with your life.  You have an option to make what you will of it.  At some point, everyone else' opinion ceases to matter, and its just you against yourself. When you take time to smell the flowers, also take time to take stock of your own life.  When was the last time you smiled or enjoyed anything with the same wonder as that of a child?

You figure it out

I'm too near to see clearly, or think clearly, or think rationally.  Word has it that the first mutilated child found was a girl, four years old, with body parts missing.  From all indications, the child must have been abducted from somewhere, beheaded and then mutilated.  The body was then thrown into a field, so whoever did this, meant for the body to be found, and found quickly.

Second incident is of a baby, between four and six months old.  Allegations are that this baby was sold by the mother to the people who killed the baby.  Again body parts removed before leaving the body somewhere public enough for the body to be found quickly.  Someone brought these two cases to my attention.  Both cases happened this week in this, my fourthworld.  So far, both are police cases but the person who told me wanted me to know that these children died because of the second type of witchcraft, killing an innocent soul and mixing body parts with juju to procure riches untold.

Prior to last month, I absolutely did not believe in witchcraft.  This month alone, I have had so many first hand experience stories from people who have suffered from this practice, I honestly do not know what to believe anymore.  The sad reality is the way this practice hinders progress, either through loss of innocent lives, fear or ruined lives.  Whats even sadder is that people who practice witchcraft do not appear on any millionaires or billionaires list.  In fact, most of them just manage the usual house in a reasonable area, a car or two, maybe a store, butchery or a couple of taxis and that, in their estimation, is riches untold.  No joy or pride of achievement, or the enriching abundance that comes with a functional and fulfilled life.  No blueprint or formula for success to pass on to families but tragic beliefs and events.  What a legacy to leave for one's loved ones!

Small space, small vision, affirmations - Yee Shun-Jian

Light was created for a purpose -  to enable one to see.  How people relate to light is different, some consider it harsh, others cannot stay in a room without it for a second.  Oftentimes in life, especially in this my totally and absolutely adorable fourth world, we tend to stifle light, by getting rid of all the things that make us uncomfortable. Discomfort, like a hard place, is sometimes the best place for one to be, because it forces you to think all the time, not sometime, not when you want to but you are looking at each and every second of your life and you want to harness that second and make it count for something and wham ban - you have it.

It gives me pleasure to share with my colleagues from this, my fourthworld, Affirmations By Yee Shun-Jian

Affirmations for Self-Confidence and Self-Belief
 Fear is only a feeling; it cannot hold me back.
 I know that I can master anything if I do it enough times.
 Today I am willing to fail in order to succeed.
 I believe that I have the strength to make my dreams come true.
 I’m going to relax and have fun with this, no matter what the outcome may be.
 I’m proud of myself for even daring to try; many people won’t even do that!
 Today I put my full trust in my inner guidance.
 I grow in strength with every forward step I take.
 I release my hesitation and make room for victory!
 With a solid plan and a belief in myself, there’s nothing I can’t do.

Green Saturday and Red & Blue Sunday

Unlike the majority of people in my world, I am not cut out to be a farmer  ... but try telling that to my mother!  She loves spending time in the bush, with  plants (thongs) and animals (thingies that bite) and soil (dirt) and boy, does she talk about how important it is to plant your own food (why does she think supermarkets are so abundant and popular?)  Much as this is not a profession I am ever likely to be successful at, I do, however, realise its importance to everyone's livelihood so I spent the day pretending to understand what was being said, making the right noises at the right time and 'absorbing' much wisdom.  In actual fact, my mind came up and finished designing a triple storey house with multiple lounges, sauna, jacuzzi, all outdoor sporting facilities, the entire works.  She believes she has imparted wisdom untold.  I  made a silent vow never to force my children to do anything they totally dislike!  Of course, no one forced me but having made a decision to spend time with my only living parent on this particular Saturday, and having told her of my intentions in advance, I suppose I only have myself to blame for having pre-arranged the day with her in advance.

Come Sunday, I have another appointment, this time with the twins.  Over and above the usual Sunday activities, (please put what passes for normal in your family because ours is not), one twin wants to play cricket, football and then have a haircut.  The other wants to watch cartoons, ride his bicycle and have us go  and visit.  Both are determined little people and they both want me to do what they want with each of them. Compromise and we do one from each's list till we finish everything.  Then when I think we have covered everything, one twin starts saying I covered more of the other twin's list and the other says the same, more like one country in this my fourthworld stating that another got more aid and more donors and more everything ....  I did find time to slot in a movie for myself and that, was most enjoyable!

Sliding Tackle

I watched a game of football with one of the twins the other day and at five, he can identify a situation requiring the referee to give a free kick.  He was correct because the referee did give a free kick and when I asked him why that had been allowed, he asked if I had not seen the ''sliding tackle".  So, how many people have given you sliding tackles of late?  Was life's referee there to give you a free kick?

The important point here is you cannot chose what happens to you, but you can choose how or whether or not to react.  Half the time, the stuff we spend our time and our lives worrying or imagining are just that, figments of our imagination.  A better way to do things is to write what you want to do on paper.  Write down your expected outcome and more importantly, write down why you expect that outcome.  Then check to see if  you have done enough to ensure that you do get the desired outcome and wait.  Of course, when you start, like more or less where I am, you do not get even 80% correct expected outcomes but the more you fine tune your expectations and desired outcome and the more you work at correcting your errors, you do see a change.  I am making a snail's progress, but progress all the same.  Some people would quit, but not me, I am made for better things and those times are coming.  In life, we make most of our own luck and that is largely dependant on an ingredient known as hard work.  Of course, working smart is better but I am a true product of this, my fourthworld and why should you expect me to do anything differently?

Time Thief

The greatest thief of anyone's time and life is regret.  There is this cosiness about feeling sorry for yourself, what could have been, what was supposed to be and what should have been.  But wait a minute, what if you had the life of say, a mosquito!  Yes.  That small little irritating thing that most people just swat without a second thought.  What if that was a human being's life, the sum total of it?   Born, look for some tender spot in some mammal, draw blood, overfeed, puke and die, is that what they do?  I think, (no offense meant here) a lot of people in the fourthworld do live the lives of mosquitos.

The year, meant to end on a somewhat low note, suddenly looks different.  I have been content to work hard to become a millionaire, now I met someone who wants to be a billionaire.  Where I think of ordinary utility life-easing gadgets, they talk these figures, and whats more, this is someone who has lived that life - and lost it all, and they have every intention of working to get it all back!  We are talking and the more they talk, the better I like what I am hearing!

Sometimes, its not about money, but matching needs, the desire to succeed, hard work, ambition and what and how one is going to go about getting their cents... or dollars.  Hello December!
